About

Follower of Jesus. Seeker of truth. 28 years old. Conservative Anabaptist. INFP. Human (very much so). University student. Teacher (at times).

My name is Lori. I am a Kansas farm girl doing life in the city of Chiang Mai, Thailand. Most days I talk Thai and English to my friends, and seldom do I have a chance  to speak Pennsylvania Dutch, my mother tongue. I study at an international college with students from over 30 different countries and love my variety of friendships from places like Japan, Germany, Myanmar, Vietnam, China and Korea, but I still have a soft spot deep in my heart for a certain place in the Midwestern United States with wide skies and acres of wheat fields and good-hearted people.

All that to say, I get confused with my identity at times. And when I do, I cry. Sometimes a lot.

Writing is an outlet for me. This blog is simple, and does not claim to be anything great or amazing. It only serves as an outlet.

Rivers and mountains and trains and good literature are all things that draw me and refresh me.  I dream of teaching school in the mountains after I graduate.

Poetry is another love of mine, and my first book of poetry was published 5 years ago, entitled, Echoes of Eternity. To order a copy of this book for $6.99, plus $2.50 shipping to anywhere in the States, please leave a comment below with your email address.

  1. We recently started an online Mennonite blog directory (https://themennonitegame.com) which is intentionally simple –just a list to help bloggers and readers connect. Would you be interested in adding your blog to the list? If so, you can fill out this form (http://goo.gl/forms/UnTbNnVaKaUKd4VN2) which asks for an affirmation of the ’63 Mennonite Confession of Faith, a square photo, and a blog description (50 words or less).

You might also be interested in the facebook group (www.facebook.com/groups/mennogame) where anyone can share their blog posts.

    Thanks for considering it! Tabitha

P.S. I love all the photos you attach to your blog posts.

  2. Thank you for visiting my blog today with a post about Lucinda Miller’s memoir. I do have another reader from Thailand, but I’m pretty sure she does not have an anabaptist heritage! You website is very inviting, Lori.
